Getting to Dumaguete

Dumaguete City is the capital and the largest city of Negros Oriental, Philippines. Located in the newly created Region 18 (Negros Island Region), Dumaguete serves as a great jump-off point to the neighboring islands around the Visayas.

Getting to Dumaguete is never a problem. Being the principal seaport of Negros Oriental, you can reach Dumaguete by boat from Northen Mindanao, Cebu and Manila. Buses also travel the whole of Negros Oriental all the way to Occidental. If you travel to Dumaguete by land, land trips are available from either Cebu or IloIlo via Bacolod through RORO services. For a more convenient travel from Manila and Cebu, Dumaguete is also accessible by air through its Domestic Airport located in Sibulan, Negros Oriental. Flights from Manila and Cebu and vice-versa are offered two to three times a day.

Dumaguete City is also known as a university town, which makes it a popular educational destination for students in the different provinces and cities of Visayas and Mindanao. The city has four universities. One of which is the renowned Silliman University where students can enroll for primary, secondary and tertiary education. It also has a State University which has six different satellite campuses strategically located in the different towns of Negros Oriental to offer tertiary education to the students of the province.

Moreover, Dumaguete City also attracts a significant number of foreign tourists because of the different beach resorts and dive sites within the province and its surrounding islands.
