Booth Festival of Silliman’s Founders Celebration or known as “Hibalag” is one of the highlights or major activities of Silliman’s Founding celebration. Hibalag is a Visayan term which means to come together or to meet up. The said event dates back since 1950 and it’s not just about the booth festival, it also includes homecoming reunions and oher exhibits and coming together. With the term itself “hibalag”,  Sillimanians enjoy coming together, visiting booths and involve themselves in different activities during the celebration. Amazingly, it’s not just Sillimanians who get to enjoy the celebration but also students from other universities and those non-students who just love to visit and feel the Silliman spirit.

Every year Hibalag Booth Festival has its theme and this year’s theme is “wonderland”. As the term itself means, an actual place or scene of great or strange beauty or wonder, Silliman has a lot of magnificent things and it will be showcased during the said event.

Hibalag is a 10 day event that will be launch on August 19, 2015, 7:00PM at the Ravello Ball Field. The event is organized by the Silliman University Student Government-ComSo. It will run until August 29, 2015. There will be Hibalag Christian Night as well on August 23, 2015.

It’s not just the Booth Festival, there are also other activities and a lot more events that everyone can enjoy. With the creativity of the students, I know everyone is excited to get to see all the booths and the gimmicks they have to offer.

Let’s all come together, enjoy and feel the Silliman spirit as we join them with their 114th Founding Celebration.

Let’s take a look on what “hibalag” really means for Sillimanians 🙂
